Franco Ferrari is a distinguished professor of law teaching at NYU School of Law, where he also directs the Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law, and a leading independent international arbitrator with more than 25 years of experience, who operates out of New York and Milan.

He has published over 300 articles, book chapters and books on international arbitration and international commercial law topics in 5 languages. His work has been repeatedly cited by the highest courts of Austria, Germany, Israel, Singapore, and Switzerland.

Franco has also served as Legal Officer in the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, International Trade Law Division (UNCITRAL) and, in this capacity, has devised various innovative tools relating to the research and implementation of uniform international law conventions, including the 1958 New York Convention on the recognition of foreign awards.

He regularly serves as independent party-appointed arbitrator, sole arbitrator and chairman under the rules of all major arbitral institutions, such as AAA/icDR, CAM, ICC, LCIA, SIAC, ViAC, ICSID, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL Rules.

He is a German and Italian native speaker and is fluent in English, French, Dutch and Spanish.

Franco is personally involved and deeply committed to excellence in handling all international arbitration and international law matters. He has been a pioneer in the research and teaching of numerous international law subjects.

He is a leading expert on numerous international law topics and regularly acts as consultant or expert in arbitration law or public international law matters before courts, national and international tribunals.

He masters the substantive laws of numerous Common Law and Civil Law jurisdictions and, due to his unrivalled language skills, is publishing and handling cases in multiple languages.

He is listed on the AAA/ICDR Roster of Arbitrators, the CIETAC Panel of Arbitrators, and the SIAC Panel of Arbitrators. Franco is also Member of the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and Conciliators and in 2016, he was appointed as President of the Arbitrator Committee of the Thailand Arbitration Center.
